Passion for Bolton 2016 – A wonderful memorable day.

Passion for Bolton 2016, took place on the town hall steps on 26th March 2016. After years in the preparation, the planning and rehearsals came together. Well done to everyone who played their part in making it an amazing and special day. Feedback from the audience has been overwhelming. The rain held off and thousands watched on as the production unfolded.  A powerful performance of the original Easter Story. See the pictures on Facebook.

photoWell done to all of our winners who took part in the Passion arts competition in partnership with Create.

Create went into local primary schools and youth groups and communicated about the Easter story.

The artwork was amazing. Some of the work is now being displayed in Bolton Market Place .  It is next to the Pandora shop.

There is a competition where you can follow the Passion Art’s Trail around the shops in the town centre and see all the pieces of artwork displayed. Go along, its great fun to see.

thanks to Create Bolton for their hard work in pulling this exhibition together.

Filming has been taking place during February for the big event on March 26th 2016

Actors from Roman tours in Chester, came to help as part of the “flogging” scene.  These pieces will be shown on the large screens at the sides of the stage. photo (9)

215572_1864804094605_1076091145_32107850_2488734_n[1]2011 was an amazing production and we want 2016 to be equally special. We need Disciples, Pharisee’s, Romans, people of Jerusalem and probably a donkey or two.

Rehearsals will start on Tuesday January 12th and will be primarily every Friday and Tuesday after that until the production on March 26th 2016.

All meetings and rehearsals will be held in our new home at St. Edmunds Church Hall, on the corner of St Edmund Street and Blundell Street, Bolton BL1 2JR. at 7.30pm. The hall has a car park that is free after 6pm and is just across Deansgate from the Bus Station.

Volunteers Induction Meeting for Passion for Bolton last week.

Passion for Bolton's photo.
About 100 people gathered for this launch meeting to sign up to contribute their talents to putting on this Passion play. It was an exciting meeting with the producer Geoff (photo on right) outlining what is involved in staging this event using 150+ actors, as well as a whole host of skills being needed for make-up, scenery, prayer ministry, sound systems (Revd Mark Bates on the left in the photo) etc. The last time this was staged 6 years ago it attracted between 3 – 4,000 people. It is a marvellous witness to the Christian message of Easter presented in a powerful way, and testimony to what is possible when Christians from across all traditions work together. Please pray for all involved and the massive amount of work and practice that needs to happen before March next year.
